President Trump

Inside (and out) the annual NRA Meetup by Brian Maschino

Thousands descended upon Dallas for the National Rifle Association's Annual Meetings & Exhibits at Kay Bailey Hutchison the weekend of May 4, 2018. The highlight of the convention included speaking moments by Vice-President Mike Pence and President Donald J. Trump during the NRA-ILA (Institute for Legislative Action) Leadership Forum, Saturday morning and afternoon.

Despite a sharp increase in anti-NRA and gun-reform rhetoric locally and nationwide, the NRA safely held their convention while protests periodically broke out across the street at Dallas City Hall - both large and minimally attended.

#MuslimBan protests at DFW International by Brian Maschino

Today was definitely an emotional day following the protests at DFW International Airport, which erupted last night, Jan. 28, after select individuals arriving to the U.S. from newly banned Muslim countries were detained until further notice.

What turned into a number of protests at airports across the country, the demonstrations at DFW were not only peaceful, but very powerful and supportive. Local Girl Scout troops brought in cookies to those demonstrating, supporters supplied cartons of water and food, ordered pizza and, from what I hear, monster tacos.

Here is a variety of photos I came away with after covering the protests a fair portion of the afternoon:

J20 Dallas Anti Trump March & General Strike

Following President Trump's inauguration on Friday, Jan. 20, demonstrations erupted in defiance of a Trump presidency across the nation; and, in the event of the Women's March, reaction and opposition to Trump and support for equal rights across the world.

Following his oath of office, I covered protests in Oak Cliff, south of the Trinity in Dallas, and the Women's March on Dallas for the news.

Here are some highlights from my coverage:
